Now that the Las Vegas Raiders drafted Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty with their first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft at No. 6 overall, it will be interesting to see if they select a quarterback on Friday in the second or third round. The Raiders own the 37th and 68th overall picks in the draft and could conceivably take Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders or Alabama’s Jalen Milroe with one of those selections if either of them are still on the board.
As of 9:10 a.m. (PT) on Friday, Las Vegas was listed as the second choice to take Sanders (+350) and fourth choice to pick Milroe (+550) at DraftKings Sportsbook behind the remaining QB-needy teams. The Cleveland Browns currently possess two of the first four picks in the second round thanks to a blockbuster trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who moved up to No. 2 overall in the first round to pick Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter. The Browns are -250 favorites to take Sanders and +200 chalk to pick Milroe, although NFL betting expert Clevta thinks they could draft someone else and deal one of the two second-rounders to a team like the Saints.
The Saints at 40 and offering pick 93 (3rd) to move up to 33 for Sanders if they want him is a possibility I’d eye

That said, Clevta also does not see why the Raiders would want to draft Sanders or Milroe in the second or third round after trading for veteran QB Geno Smith prior to the draft. Sanders has been linked to the Raiders for a while now based on his relationship with minority owner Tom Brady, but they do have other more obvious needs.
I honestly just don’t understand why the Raiders would want Sanders. They traded a real asset for Geno and he’s locked up for two years. Pete is 73 years old and they just used the 6 on an RB. Everything they’ve done screams win now. They have huge holes at OL and CB. I’d lean… https://t.co/ICCVrsR4Zq

Michigan cornerback Will Johnson has experienced a comparable fall to Sanders after being viewed as a potential Top 10 overall pick, and either he or a pair of wide receivers such as Iowa State’s Jayden Higgins and Missouri’s Luther Burden III could look good in the Silver and Black to help boost the team’s offense as well.

The odds to draft Sanders have since been halved from +350 to +175 for the Raiders.
+350 underdog -> +175 -> -110 -> -175 favorite
